What is De Anza Rescue? De Anza Rescue Unit, Inc. is an all volunteer, non-profit corporation. It was formed on May 26, 1969 after a child named Keith Reily was lost near Mt. Signal. At that time, the county lacked the resources to mount an organized, effective and equipped search. Who is De Anza Rescue? De Anza is currently made up of 28 members from all walks of life and occupations. Members provide their own equipment and expenses. Members are prepared for call-out 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. The members meet the first Tuesday of each month for a general business meeting. Intrested persons may attend this meeting and learn more about the group. This meeting is held at "The Hut" located at 2506 La Brucherie Road. Imperial, California. A Field Training exercise is held one weekend per month. Members maintain First Aid and CPR certificates. This provides complete radio coverage over a wide search area. We are able to reach Brawley and El Centro from most parts of the Imperial County. The Command Center has a multi-channel capability for direct contact with most of the public saftey agencies in Imperial County. It also has an aircraft radio, cell phone and GPS. Along with communications, Unit 1 utilizes a computer and printer with GPS tracking software. The Mobile Command Center is supplied with various types of rescue gear for a wide variety of emergencies. It also provides air and electricity. The Mobile Command Center pulls a trailer with four quads and a custom litter trailer with floation tires.
